_Press Club: Record Bar
A lounge experience from Will Patton, Devin Kennedy, and the team of Hive Hospitality | Washington D.C.

At Press Club in Washington, D.C., the design is a symphony of sound and flavor—an immersive underground lounge inspired by the owners’ curated playlist and the artistry of their cocktail menu. We began with the music, listening to the rhythm, cadence, and layers, and translated those into design elements: the repetition of shelving evokes the beat, while the soft curves of the seating and bar mimic the flow of a melody.

The cocktails themselves became a muse, too. The ingredients—rich, earthy tones of bitters, the smooth amber of aged spirits, and the vibrancy of citrus—guided our palette of warm woods, deep greens, and velvety textures. These elements layer together like the ingredients of a perfectly crafted drink, each material chosen to add depth, sophistication, and balance to the space.

Lighting plays a key role, creating shadow and highlights that mimic the rise and fall of a track or the drama of a drink being poured. The result is a dark, sexy, and upscale atmosphere—where music, design, and cocktails merge seamlessly into a single experience.

At Press Club, every detail tells a story. It’s a lounge that feels like a song brought to life and a cocktail enjoyed slowly—inviting guests to sit back, sip, and savor the rhythm of the space.
